Our Work in Protecting Worimi Country
Culture, land, and community are the foundations of everything we do at WLALC. We are deeply committed to preserving and passing on the language, knowledge and traditions that connect us to Country and each other.
Our work to protect Worimi Country includes land claims, site preservation, cultural education, and heritage partnerships. Whether we’re caring for sacred sites, sharing stories through art, or teaching language to the next generation, it’s all part of restoring our cultural strength.
At the Murrook Culture Centre, these efforts come to life. A perfect example is the handcrafted driftwood chandelier hanging in the foyer, made by local hands with wood collected on Country. It’s not just a design feature, it’s a symbol of connection, creativity and care.
We believe that cultural revitalisation is more than looking back, it’s about looking forward with strength. When we honour the knowledge of our Ancestors, we ensure our future generations stay grounded in who they are.
Culture is our identity, our strength and our guide. And at WLALC, we’re proud to keep it strong.
