Our Land &
Business Plan
At Worimi Local Aboriginal Land Council (WLALC), our vision and values are deeply grounded in the enduring culture, history, and aspirations of the Worimi people.
Everything we do is guided by a strong commitment to protecting land and heritage, and empowering our community for generations to come.
The WLALC is committed to improving, protecting and fostering the best interests of its members and all Aboriginal persons within the Council’s area.
About
the Plan
The CLBP provides the foundation for how WLALC supports its members, manages assets, strengthens cultural connections, and drives community and economic development. The Plan is reviewed and refined through ongoing community consultation to ensure it remains responsive to changing needs and opportunities.
Through workshops, member feedback, and collaboration with key stakeholders, the CLBP remains a living document that adapts to support long-term growth and wellbeing for the Worimi people.
Our Focus Areas
The Plan focuses on four core areas that shape our vision and responsibilities:
Culture, Heritage & Environment
We protect and celebrate culture, language, and land, making sure this knowledge is passed down to future generations.
Community Participation & Wellbeing
Building unity and respect through initiatives that enhance health, education, social inclusion and community engagement.
Governance, Management & Administration
Operating with integrity, transparency, and professionalism to support good governance and strong leadership.
Business & Economic Development
Creating economic opportunities through strategic investment, land management, and sustainable enterprise.
These focus areas are aligned with the legislative functions of all Local Aboriginal Land Councils, ensuring that WLALC operates responsibly and in the best interests of its members.
Our Ongoing Commitment
WLALC continues to strengthen its capacity and impact through:
Improved governance and operational systems
Positive partnerships with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal organisations
A strong profile across government, business, and community sectors
Reliable revenue and investment strategies to support growth
Consultation with members plays a vital role in shaping the direction of the CLBP. Feedback and community engagement help guide updates to the Plan - whether it’s refining our structure, setting clear goals for housing and education, enhancing youth engagement, or deepening cultural programs.
Looking Ahead
The WLALC is proud of its role as a strong, connected, and forward-thinking organisation. We remain focused on:
Empowering our people
Caring for Country
Creating sustainable, culturally aligned pathways for future generations
